How do I make the task activity record searchable by task name or title?

Unlike other record types, Task record is not searchable in global search if you try to search tasks by their name. As a workaround, you can create a free-form text type custom field for task record and enable global search option for that field. The custom field will source the information from the task name/title automatically so that when a user searches for a specific by name via global search, then it will return a result based on the task name/title of this record.

To create a custom field that sources the task name/title, an administrator or any user role with sufficient permission must do the following steps:

• Go to Customization > List, Records & Fields > CRM Fields > New.
• Set the following:
  • Label = Task Name (name of the field)
  • Type = Free-Form Text
  • Global Search = T (mark the checkbox)
  • Store Value = F (unmark the checkbox)
• Go to Applies To tab:
  • Task = T (mark the checkbox)
• Go to Validation & Defaulting tab and set the following:
  • Default Value = {title}
  • Formula = T (mark the checkbox)
• Click Save button.
